Tail hunter (Flashgame)
Project:
Tail hunter was executed during a worldwide game making challenge called “Global Game Jam”. The concept of this event is to make a game within 48 hours all over the world. The participants enroll themselves online for a certain city and will need to team up with random game developers at the event, to make a game. At the beginning of the event a theme will be introduced that should serve as a base for the game concept. At the end the jury will evaluate the produced games and will invite the winner to participate in a meeting with professionals at a symposium in the capital. The jury liked our game so much that we won the first price in Enschede. That enabled us to enjoy a day in Amsterdam with all the other winners of other cities and more importantly, build up contacts to industry professionals. The event takes place in the beginning of every year and is absolutely fun!
Story:
This game is about a little puppy who is living on a tennis ball planet. Like any other small dog, he wants to catch his own tail. To achieve that the dog has to eat meat to grow longer until he is long enough to bite his tail after surrounding the planet. The concept is based on the “Ouroboros” symbol.
Gameplay:
In order to succeed the player has to control the dog and make him eat meat to grow longer. Once the dog encounters a bone he will run faster. If he eats the toxic mushrooms, that grow on the planet, he will get slower. The player wins the game when the dog bites his own tail. The time that was needed to collect the meat will be recorded and put in a high score ranking.
